FABULA

HELENE KORTNER

In the Project Room, Kornter’s Baroque-inspired ceramic figures are gathered in a small theatre of form [formteater]. The works in this exhibition are influenced by an enthusiasm for curious museum collections of ornamental objects – objects outside of today’s practical use. They are bygone, crackled, and outside of time.

Helene Kortner (1966) is eduated at the Ceramic Institute, Bergen National Academy of Art and Design, in 1995. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. Including Kortner – Lundebrekke – Tingleff, Gallery ARTendal, Bomuldsfabrikken, Arendal, Norway, and In Spe, Grenland Kunsthall, Porsgrunn, Norway. She has received both the Crafts Prize from The Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts, and the Jury’s Prize at the 5th Cairo International Biennale for Ceramics, as well as honourable mention at several international biennials. Kortner’s works have also been purchased for private and public collections.
